Best Free Baby Crochet Patterns
Crocheting is one of my favorite hobbies. I’m glad I got the chance to learn from a friend of my grandma’s when I was younger. Being only 14 years old at the time, I didn’t see a point in crocheting the baby patterns. But boy, were they cute.
I’ve amassed a collection of patterns over the years and I’m super excited to share it with you. By the way, these patterns are great as a homemade baby shower gift. I know it’ll make your gift that much more special!
If you don’t know how to crochet, but would love to learn, check out Annie’s Catalog. Her tutorials are awesome because she includes helpful videos to guide you. I know from experience, diagrams can only help so much. There’s also a lot of wonderful YouTube videos to learn from as well.
I recommend purchasing crochet hooks with an ergonomic handle. It’s easier on the wrist and fingers for length crocheting sessions. WooCrafts Ergonomic Crochet Hooks include 9 needles, 9 crochet hooks, 10 stitch markers (for marking rounds in hats), and a crochet hook case. All you need to begin your crocheting journey.
Some of the best free baby crochet patterns you can find on the web:
Keep your baby’s head warm with this crochet turban. It’s a super simple pattern and it looks great.
This pattern is for newborns, but there’s also additional sizing options for 3-6 mos and 9-12 mos.
With this pattern you get to learn a whole new technique, color pooling. The color pooling method is what makes this slouchy hat so vibrant. I love this hat so much, I wish it came in adult sizing!
This pattern has baby to adult sizing options. You’ll be tempted to create matching tails with your little one!
Crochet to keep or as a gift: pacifier strap, baby wipes cover, and bottle cover.
I love this Whistle & Ivy diaper pouch. Diapers aren’t the most attractive looking things to be lugging around, but this diaper pouch really makes it fashionable.
Never lose a pacifier again! Binky clips are a great way too secure a pacifier onto clothing or other item to ensure they never wound up forever lost. This is a super easy and quick pattern to complete in your free time.
Baby mobiles can range from $25-50. Make your own for a fraction of the cost. This dragonfly mobile is simple and sweet. You can alter the color scheme to match your nursery’s theme. You could even make a rainbow dragonfly!
This Hearts Around the Globe mobile is a favorite of mine. It’s so unique, you definitely won’t find anything like it in stores.
I absolutely adore Snacksies Handcraft’s patterns and I love that she offers a lot of her amigurumi patterns for free. She even creates patterns for all your favorite movie characters. Crochet Princess Leia, Captain America, and more! Any LINE fans out there? I’ve crocheted Cony and Brown before and they’re just the cutest things.
The perfect washcloth for bath time. You can also use them as burp cloths and to clean up little messes. I recommend making quite a few of these!
How gorgeous is this blanket? I love the color scheme she picked and it would be a great addition to a nursery.
Who wouldn’t fall in love with this blanket? It is a size adult blanket, but you can easily shorten the beginning chain to make it smaller for your little one. Again, I don’t know how she chose such a beautiful color scheme. It’s breathtaking.
